Meet Justin

Integrity, Reform, Progress

I’m Justin Tseng—and I’m proud to serve as your City Councilor.

I’m the son of immigrants who came to Medford chasing the American Dream. My parents raised me paycheck to paycheck—but it was our public schools, our neighbors, and this community that gave us everything. That’s why I’ve spent the last four years giving back—and paying it forward.

Over the past four years, we haven’t just made progress—we’ve made history. We’ve secured record funding for our schools, passed transformative housing reforms, become a regional climate leader, and repaired roads and sidewalks that had been neglected for decades. We brought back bus routes and made City Hall more open and transparent—because when national leaders fail, Medford steps up.

But the job’s not done. I’m running for re-election to keep Medford moving forward together. Let’s keep building a Medford that works for you, me, and our neighbors down the street.

Help us out!

Elections are expensive. Your support makes the difference!

The Ideas to Move Medford Forward

As national politicians gamble with our economy and threaten our neighbors, Medford needs steady hands and bold leadership.

While some leaders are busy banning books and turning neighbors against each other, we’re building a city that welcomes everyone and works for all of us. We’ve made record investments in our schools and passed laws to protect our neighbors and our freedoms.

While politicians in Washington and on Beacon Hill continue to cater to big money interests and leave us priced out and left behind, we’re passing one-in-a-lifetime reforms to make housing more affordable, spur local business growth, and lead the fight against climate change—right here at home.

The people of Medford are standing up to meet the moment. Medford deserves leaders who are bold in vision and brave in action.

EQUITY AND INCLUSION

Medford deserves councilors who recognize that justice isn’t a zero-sum game. I am committed to fighting against systemic, institutional, and interpersonal oppression. As a person of color, I understand just how damaging discrimination in Medford can be. read more

CLIMATE, INFRASTRUCTURE, AND TRANSPORTATION

The climate crisis is at our doorsteps, and Medford is particularly vulnerable. In the last two years, we’ve made notable progress to better prepare Medford against the consequences of climate change and to do our part in reducing emissions. Climate and infrastructure go hand in hand. Our roads need repaving and reshaping, and many of our buildings need makeovers. read more

IMPROVING CITY SERVICES

Medford residents work too hard to come home to a city that is underinvesting in its own services. Making sure that all residents have access to efficient city services is at the core of City Hall’s day-to-day mission. It’s time to bring City Hall into the 21st century. read more

HOUSING AFFORDABILITY

For far too long, Medford residents have seen rents and prices climb without end. As our city finally moves forward, we need to make sure no one is left behind. As a young person who wants to stay in Medford, this is a challenge I know all too well. Whether you’re growing up or growing old, you deserve to have the choice to stay here. read more

REVITALIZING OUR ECONOMY

With new businesses opening up and the Council passing a historic zoning reform, Medford’s business fortunes are finally on the upswing. Together, we can rebuild our local economy to thrive for all of us. read more

TRANSPARENT GOVERNANCE

Medford residents deserve transparency in their city government. When it comes to our everyday work or to the challenges of our city budget, you should be able to pull a chair up to the decision-making table and be able to jump into our discussions. read more

STRENGTHENING OUR SCHOOLS

Seeing our city fall short on funding our schools sparked my decision to run for City Council in the first place. The future of Medford lies in the hands of our children. In order to provide our children and our city with a bright future, we must invest in our schools. read more

PUBLIC AND MENTAL HEALTH

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, public and mental health have become a top priority and challenge. In the last two years, Medford has made tremendous progress in recovering from the pandemic, addressing disparate consequences, and building infrastructure to tackle future health emergencies. read more
